PESHAWAR, Oct 6: Chief of his own faction of the Pakistan People’s Party, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, has said Oct 10 will pave way for the restoration of democracy, and that a new era of prosperity and progress for the people would start shortly.

He expressed these views while addressing public meetings at Dargai and Malakand.

Mr Sherpao said his party would take concrete measures for strengthening the federation and bringing prosperity in federating units, if voted to power.

The PPP(S) would endeavour for such a political and economic system that would bring an end to social injustice and exploitation of the poor, he said.

He also said the PPP (S) had jumped in the electoral arena for the cause of masses, and it would do every effort to change the lot of oppressed strata.

He asked the people to give vote on the basis of past performance of the candidates who could more efficiently work for their welfare. He castigated that some frustrated elements due to fear of defeat in the elections had started misleading the masses through vicious propaganda.

He called upon the masses to bury petty differences and bring unity in their ranks and files for the achievement of their rights.—APP
