KARACHI, Jan 27: A young political worker was shot dead outside his house in Lines Area on Thursday, police said.

While the area police said that the victim, identified as Asif in his mid 30s, was associated with a political party, both factions of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi – led by Afaq Ahmed and Amir Khan – claimed that the victim was their worker and associated with Unit 196 of the Lines Area sector of their party.

SSP Jamshed Town Amir Farooqi said: “Two men riding a motorbike attacked Asif near Siddiq-i-Akbar Masjid in Lines Area where he lived. He sustained two gunshot wounds each in the head and face and died on the spot.”

“The body was handed over to the victim’s family after medico-legal formalities at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre,” he added. The victim was married and had three children. He was an air conditioner technician, the police said.

Man found shot dead Meanwhile, a young man was found shot dead in Sukha Ground near Qasimabad area within the remit of the Liaquatabad police station in the early hours of Thursday.

The police said that the victim was identified as 28-year-old Mohammad Bilal. “He was hit by four bullets fired from a very close range,” said an official at the Liaquatabad police station. “He had been living alone in the area for the last eight years. The killing seemed to be a part of some personal enmity,” the official said.
