HYDERABAD, Oct 4: The house job doctors of the Liaquat Medical University Hospital, Jamshoro and Hyderabad, have threatened to boycott the general elections if their salary was not increased.

The doctors, who are on hunger strike for the last three days, were talking to journalists at the hunger strikers’ camp outside the local press club on Friday.

Dr Shaukat Panhwar and others said that the government had increased the basic pay scale of grade-17 but the doctors of Sindh were still being paid Rs3,880 per month.

They said that according to the rules, they must be paid Rs6,210 per month.

They threatened that if justice was not restored to house job doctors, no house job doctor of Sindh would cast his vote in the general elections.

JSMM: The Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz has suspended the membership of Muneer Ahmed Khoso, Hidayat Khoso and Imamuddin Khoso of Mehar and Ejaz Memon of Jamshoro for taking part in election campaign.

This was announced by the party chairman, Shafi Mohammad Burfat, and general secretary, Asghar Shah, in a statement faxed to Dawn.

They said that the suspended members had violated the party discipline and betrayed the philosophy of G. M. Syed.

They said that some nationalist forces were betraying the nationalist movement by being involved in election activities.

They said that their party would not become a part of election activities and its workers, engaged in election activities, would be expelled.

TRANSPORT: The police has launched a massive operation to seize the public transport, including vans and buses, for the election duties, as a result the public transport has disappeared from the roads.

Even the newspaper-vans have not been spared.

The management of the newspapers are finding it difficult to dispatch the newspapers to the interior Sindh.
