LARKANA, Jan 27: Police have busted an inter-provincial gang of car lifters and arrested its four members, including a cop, and recovered a car from them.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, District Police Officer Larkana Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh said that the gang had been using Larkana as a dumping ground prior to shifting the lifted cars to Balochistan.

They mostly lifted cars from Karachi and Hyderabad, he said and added the investigation depicted that scores of cars had been lifted by them.

He did not tell the name of the cop on the pretext that the leakage could alert other members of the gang and they could flee.

He said that Rustam Panhwar and Ghulam Rasool Panhwar of the gang had been arrested and during interrogation they told the name of Abdul Sattar Brohi who was later picked from Balochistan.

He said that in a crackdown against criminals, police had also arrested two notorious dacoits Luqman Marfani and Abdul Rasool Abro, carrying head money of Rs500,000 each, and seized two Kalashnikovs from them.

He said that 21 cases of kidnapping for ransom, police encounters and murders were registered against them in different police stations of the district.

Police had also arrested Haji Narejo from Naudero who had been updating gangs of dacoits and criminals about people in the district. He was being investigated.
