LAHORE, Jan 22: Former Test cricketer Aslam Khokhar died here on Saturday after a protracted illness. He was 91.

Aslam had played one Test during the tour of England in 1954 under Hafeez Kardar. He was a middle-order batsman and medium-fast bowler.

He represented Universal Club and prior to partition of the subcontinent had participated in Ranjhi Trophy matches.

Aslam also stood as an umpire in three Test matches.

The deceased was laid to rest at the Shah Jamal graveyard. Besides PCB officials, a large number of his club colleagues and cricket fraternity attended the funeral.

Meanwhile, PCB chairman Ijaz Butt and chief operating officer Subhan Ahmad expressed their condolences.
