MANSEHRA, Jan 21: Mansehra police have arrested two persons who allegedly took money from hundreds of people with the promise to get their names registered with the Wasila-i-Haq scheme of the Benazir Income Support Programme, it was learnt.

Mansehra police had lodged FIR against three culprits for allegedly receiving over Rs0.5 million from various people but failing to fulfil their promise.

Police had taken the action after a group of eight former nazims and councillors had moved separate applications to the Mansehra DPO for registration of cases against a group of five persons who had deceived them.

An additional sessions judge ordered the police to arrest Mohammad Azam and Farrukh Raza after cancellation of their bail pleas.

The investigation officer Mohammad Iftikhar told reporters that initially the investigation was launched against eight persons but after an inquiry FIR was registered against Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Azam, Farrukh Raza and Mohammad Ali.

DEPRIVED OF CASH: A fraudulent group, which has been allegedly involved in arranging fake marriages of girls, has deprived a man of Rs100,000.

“Yar Mohammad, head of the group, received an amount of Rs100,000 from me and married his so-called daughter with me but she fled with her mother the very next day,” alleged Abdul Rasheed while speaking at a press conference here on Friday.

Abdul Rasheed of Shinkiary said that Mohammad Iqbal of the same area took him to Mardan where he met Yar Mohammad. He said that Yar Mohammad demanded an amount of Rs100,000 to give her 'daughter' Gul Naz's hand to him.

Mr Rasheed said that Gul Naz's mother also accompanied her to Shinkiary where the Nikah and marriage ceremony was held but both mother and her daughter fled the house the very next day.

He said despite filing of an FIR with Shinkiary police the accused was yet to be arrested.
