Woman dies in shelling

MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 2: A woman was killed and a man was injured in Indian shelling from across the Line of Control on Wednesday, police said.

The casualties occurred in Khilana Bari Behak village in the Chakothi sector, some 60 kilometres south of Muzaffarabad, after Indian troops, using small and heavy arms, started shelling at about 1 pm without any provocation, police said.

A 45-year-old woman, Bushra Bibi, wife of Sher Zaman, was killed and Mohammad Asghar, 28, son of Abdul Latif was injured in the shelling, which was continuing intermittently till the filing of this report in the evening.—Staff Correspondent
