ATTOCK, Jan 15: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has failed to provide better banking services to its customers, as its branches in the district do not have ATM facility.

The NBP authorities had promised in August 2009 that ATM would be installed at its branch in two months, but till now they have failed to do so. Dawn

Talking to , some customers said the bank's performance negated its slogan: “60 years of excellence”. They were of the view that all private banks had ATMs but the bank in public sector did not have the facility in its branches in Attock and Kamra.

An NBP official on condition of anonymity said online networking of the main branches of Attock was completed a year back, but the authorities could not install ATMs despite repeated requests and reminders by the bank's local administration.

He disclosed that two ATMs were installed inside restricted areas of Artillery Regimental Centre, Attock cantonment and Azad Kashmir Regimental Centre, Mansar Cantonment but it was only for the personnel of the defence installations.

Despite efforts the NBP's Group Chief Operation Dr Asif Barohi could not be reached for comments .

However, Senior Vice-President (SVP) Khalid Mehmood said financial matters had been finalised for installation of ATMs in the country including Attock district. However, he said he could not give any time limit for its installation.—Correspondent
