PESHAWAR, Jan 15: A local court on Saturday allowed bail application of a suspected female drug pusher and ordered her release on medical grounds.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Khalid Khan directed the applicant Ms Sonia to furnish two sureties of Rs100,000 each.

The applicant belongs to Green Town, Lahore, and was arrested by the local police in the jurisdiction of Sarband police station on Dec 24, 2010. The police alleged that she was standing at a bus stop and on search they found that she had wrapped 4kg charas around her legs. She was charged under section 9 of the Control of Narcotics Substance Act.

Advocate Nasrun Minallah appeared for the applicant and produced her medical reports contending that she had been in advance stages of pregnancy. The counsel pointed out that the tentative date of her delivery was Feb 11.

Mr Minallah stated that her medical examination was also conducted inside the prison. He requested the court that keeping in view her condition she was entitled to the concession of bail.
