KARACHI, Oct 2: Procedure for issuance of route permits would be amended keeping in view the changing needs of the people and to improve the transport facilities in the city.

This was decided at a meeting of the regional transport board which met here under the chairmanship of DCO Shafiqur Rehman Paracha.

The board also set up a body which would make a detailed review of the transport scenario, and new routes would be allocated keeping in view the needs of the people.

The committee would chalk out a plan to ascertain how many buses and new routes could be allocated to an area.

The meeting reviewed the steps taken for providing one-window facility to companies who offered to ply CNG buses in the city.

It was decided that those 15 companies who showed interest in plying CNG buses and made efforts would be provided one-window facility of registration and completion of other formalities.
