CHITRAL, Jan 12: Police here have busted a gang of swindlers who used to get money from people for providing them employment.

Chitral police SHO Zaffar Ahmed told this correspondent that he had received complaints that an organisation named Ujala had established its offices in Chitral and was charging Rs5,000 each from people on the pretext of providing them employment.

He said that during initial inquiry, Ujala workers claimed that it was registered with the social welfare department, but its registration certificate proved fake when checked with the department.

Mr Ahmed said that the managers of Ujala, Shakil Ali Shah of Nauthia Jadeed and Yasser Khan Shahid of Gulberg, Peshawar, absconded from Chitral while its accountant Fareedullah of Bakrabad, Chitral, was arrested. He said that Rs80,000 collected from different people were also recovered from Fareedullah.

He said that a case had been registered against the group and efforts were being made to arrest the absconders.

RELIEF DISTRIBUTED: On the request of district administration, Saudi Relief Pakistan has distributed about 6,000 quilts among the flood-affected people of Chitral, said SRP coordinator Muhammd Kamal.

He said that the relief package for 2,000 families was handed over to the DCO Rahmatullah wazir and, if needed, more relief goods would be provided for the flood-stricken people.
