PESHAWAR, Jan 10: Three persons including two minor girls were wounded in a blast near a seminary on Monday while an abducted child was recovered and his kidnappers were arrested. The blast occurred at Nawan Kiliy in limits of Peshtakhara police station. Those injured were identified as Maryam (7), Shazia (6) and an Afghan boy Zahid Khan (16).

The injured were taken to Khyber Teaching Hospital by the rescuers of 1122. The hospital sources said all of them had sustained multiple wounds.

A police official said the explosive packed in a plastic bag weighing about 4kg had been detonated through a remote control.

Locals said they spotted two men digging ground near a religious seminary Anwar-ul-Quran in the afternoon. However they could not identify the men.

Meanwhile, police claimed recovering a five-year-old boy and arrested his kidnappers from Khyber Agency.

SP city Rahim Shah Khan told reporters the child Afnan, son of Said Rahim, had been kidnapped by a group of kidnappers who demanded Rs8 million for his release.

The SP said the accused had been identified through a telephone number they used for contacting the child’s father for ransom. Initially, he said one accused Masal Khan of Jamrud had been arrested who disclosed names of his accomplices. The others Said Jamal and Taveez Khan also belonged to Jamrud. The SP said father of the child had been in Dubai and the kidnappers expected huge ransom for release of the boy but failed to do so. — Bureau Report
