ISLAMABAD, Oct 1: Pakistan and Tunisia have agreed to establish a joint business committee to increase trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

An agreement of cooperation was signed between Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and its Tunisian counterpart after the opening of 5th session of Pakistan Tunisia Joint Ministerial Commission, says a message received here from Tunis.

According to an official announcement here on Tuesday, addressing the plenary session of Pak-Tunisia JMC, leader of Pakistani delegation and Privatization Minister Altaf M. Saleem said the fields of telecommunication, information technology, leather & textiles, fertilizers and science & technology were the potential areas of cooperation between the two countries.

He said exchanging business delegations and participating in each other’s trade fair could play an important role for further enhancing the economic activities between Tunisia and Pakistan.

Underscoring the need for devising a more effective mechanism for implementation of decisions taken at JMC, Mr Saleem said that he was confident that the relations between both the countries would further strengthen through increased cooperation in economic and commercial fields by focusing on specific areas for expanding the existing economic and commercial linkage.
