Friends forever

This is with reference to the article Friends forever by Yasmeen Elahi (YW, December 18, 2010). It seems that the writer had written all that I feel about sisters. I agree with everything she said. I also love my sister but I don’t like her bossy attitude.

Yasmeen Elahi in her article Friends forever has drawn a complete picture of sisters’ relationship. While reading the article, I got lost in my childhood memories when I spent some very lovely moments with my sister. As now she is married, I miss her very much. I have realised that without sisters life is simply colourless. I am lucky to have a sister and I thank God for blessing me with this precious relation. Now at home, I am the eldest one and I try to follow in my sister’s footsteps in becoming a caring and loving elder sister.

Time is money

We all know that time is money, but these days some people ignore this fact and waste their precious time in useless activities like watching too much TV, playing computer games, texting and chatting.

Time is the most precious asset, which if lost once, can’t be obtained again. The person who is capable of better time management and spend his /her time in useful activities such as reading informative books, improving writing skills, etc., always achieves success. So utilise your time well and value this treasure.

Saving money: a healthy habit

The concept of saving money is not so prevalent in our part of the world, especially among children and the youth. Of course, many of us do add this job as a part of our New Year’s resolutions but how often do we actually save up?

Saving up is a healthy activity that includes cutting down your expenditures and putting that part of money safe and sound so that it can be used later for our own good.

Many of us get pocket money. Teenagers and preteens usually spend this money on useless things such as video games, eating out, buying CDs or DVDs, etc.

It is always better to make a budget of all the expenditure and keep in mind the amount left and finally deposit it in a safe place.

These days there are many ways to utilise saved-up money. You can donate it to a charity or buy yourself things that you would generally ask your parents to buy you (thus helping them in saving their money) or get something that is of some benefit for your, e.g. a book.

Saving up helps a lot in one’s practical life, specially these days when prices of commodities shoot up quickly. It would also make your parents happy and satisfied when they’ll get to know that you are concerned about their hard-earned money.

Nowadays many banks offer a bank account for children, it’s useful for children to open such accounts as the money will be out of their easy reach and thus they will not be tempted to spend it.

Saving up is not only a healthy habit but it is also the responsibility of every person to spend money wisely.
