KARACHI: Wapda tamed five times National Games Champions Army recording a 1-0 win in the first semi-final match, while PAF recorded a 2-0 win over Navy in the 31st National Games on Tuesday in Islamabad.

Wapda, eight times National Champions who won the National Games at Minto Park in 1992, dominated the 90-minute tussle against five times National Games gold medalists Pakistan Army and won 1-0. Both the teams fielded under-strength line ups as many of their players are still busy in the PPFL.

The lone goal of the match was scored by international striker Jadeed Khan in the 12th minute. The man from Chaman is currently the leading scorer for Afghan FC with 10 goals.

In the second semi-final match PAF were 1-0 up at half time through their reliable front runner Muhammad Zeeshan who capitalized on Muhammad Mujahid’s pass to steer the ball past keeper Ishaq Ahmed. Navy went out of contention when midfielder Muhammad Usman unleashed a powerful drive from the edge of the area in the 79th minute.

The final of the event  will be played on Wednesday, 29th December after the third place match at the same venue earlier between Army and Navy.
