Aamir gets squash gold

PESHAWAR, Dec 27: Aamir Atlas Khan clinched the gold medal by defeating Farhan Mahboob in the final of the squash event of the 31st National Games at the PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Monday.

The final was enjoyed by capacity crowd as the match lasted for 47 minutes and stretched to five games.

Aamir of Wapda won the first two games 11-9 and 11-4 but Farhan, of the same department, came back strongly and won the next two 13-11 and 11-5.

The fifth and decisive game proved to be a completely one-sided affair as Aamir won it 11-3 easily.

Earlier, in the two semi-finals, Aamir Atlas beat Waqar Mahboob of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa 11-8, 11-6, 11-5 while Farhan Mahboob defeated Farhan Zaman of Pakistan Air Force 11-13, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9 after a tough match.—APP
