QUETTA, Sept 28: Despite being component parties of the Grand National Alliance many candidates of the Millat Party and the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) are contesting the Oct 10 general election against each other in Punjab and Balochistan provinces.

The provincial president of Millat Party and former chief minister, Mir Taj Mohammed Khan Jamali, told reporters at his residence on Saturday that he would contest the election from NA- 259 Quetta against the PML-Q candidate, Syed Fazal Agha.

He said that his party leadership had asked him not to withdraw nomination papers in favour of the PML-Q candidate.

Mr Jamali said that he had filed nomination papers from his home constituency, Nasirabad, but later withdrew in favour of PML-Q candidate Mir Zafarullah Jamali and as a goodwill gesture the PML-Q should have withdrawn Mr Agha in his favour.

The Millat Party leader said that both the parties have fielded their candidates against each other from 45 constituencies to vie for national and provincial assemblies’ seats.

However, Mr Jamali said, he was ready to accept the decisions of his party chief Sardar Farooq Ahmed Leghari and Ch Shujaat Hussain on the Quetta city seat.
