Governor for success of govt supporters

KHAIRPUR, Sept 28: Sindh Governor Mohammedmian Soomro has urged the people to vote for the supporters of the government for the continuity of its policies.

He was addressing an open katchehry in Chundko town, Nara taluka on Saturday.

He said that a strong government would be set up and Gen Pervez Musharraf’s welfare programme for common people would continue if his supporters came into power.

He announced a special development package of Rs166 million for the eight talukas of Khairpur district and grant of Rs5 million rupees for providing water to Chundko town.

The governor also announced to establish a polytechnic college in Chundko and to restore historical Kot Diji Fort.

He assured that he would ask the oil and gas companies to provide the local people with jobs.

He said that in this regard, he had had a meeting with the officials of some gas and oil companies.

He announced to supply gas to different villages of Sindh and added that work for this purpose would begin soon.

He revealed that President Gen Pervez Musharraf would inaugurate Reni canal project next week.

He said that after construction of the Reni canal Thar would become irrigated and prosperous.

On the occasion, the district Nazim, Nafisa Shah, was also present.

Later, Soomro visited child and healthcare centre, Chundko.
