Margin of defeat surprises official

ROTTERDAM, Nov 11: Pakistan hockey team management Sunday expressed its disappointment over team’s performance after losing 5-2 to the Netherlands in the bronze medal playoff.

“It was a bad day for us and I will say most of the players failed to give their one hundred percent. The forwards as well defenders disappointed us,” team manager, Brig Khalid Khokhar, said.

He said he was not expecting such a big margin defeat.

The manager said the team management have learnt a number of lessons from the outcome of the tournament and efforts would be made to enhance team’s performance in future.

Defending the inclusion of Shahbaz Ahmad, he said, the forward gave his best but most of his goal scoring plans were not duly utilized by the fellow team members.

Team coaches Hanif Khan and Khawaja Junaid also expressed disappointment and said it was poor show on part of the team.—APP
