MARDAN, Dec 24: A man belonging to the Ahmedi community was killed and his father and cousin were injured when two unidentified motorcycle riders opened indiscriminate fire on them on Canal Road in Muslimabad locality late on Thursday night, police said on Friday.

Police officials said that according to preliminary investigations, Javed Ahmed was on his way back home along with his son Umar Ahmad and Yasar Ahmad in his car when two unknown gunmen riding on a motorcycle sprayed them with bullets. As a result, Umar Ahmad died on the spot while his father and cousin received multiple wounds.

Both the injured are said to be in stable condition in the district headquarters hospital, Mardan. City police have registered a murder case against the unidentified attackers and started search for them.

Relatives of the victims told police that they had no enmity with anyone and it appeared to be a case of targeted killing.
