PESHAWAR, Sept 28: City District Nazim Azam Afridi on Saturday warned the government officials of disciplinary action if they remain absent from the district council meetings.

He was speaking at the district council session, presided over by its convener, Dr Mohammad Iqbal Khalil.

During the discussion, most of the members expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the education department. They noted with concern that the furniture provided to schools by the department was not sufficient.

The Nazim directed the department to present a report in this regard by Monday.

He said vested interests had spread rumours that the new system would not work but the elected representatives worked hard for its success and solving the people’s problems.

The council also offered prayers for eternal peace to the departed souls  of Union Council Nazim Fayyaz Khalil, Arbab Humayun, Lower Dir District Nazim Dr Yaqoob Khan and Swat Naib Nazim Kaki Khan.
