ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: The local wing of Millat Party has announced that it will support Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, contesting as an independent candidate from two constituencies of Rawalpindi, and Aijaz Khan, who is aspiring for a seat of the provincial assembly from Rawalpindi.

This was announced by the local leader of the Millat Party, Raja Shoaib Adil, at a press conference here at his residence on Friday.

It may be noted here that the PML-N parliamentary board denied party ticket to Sheikh Rashid Ahmed due to his clandestine understanding with the military government.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, however, denied the charge and alleged that “it was a conspiracy on the part of the PML-N leaders, Syed Zafar Ali Shah and Chaudhry Tanvir Ahmed” which deprived him of the party ticket. He still claims to be a loyalist of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Raja Shoaib Adil said his party had decided to back Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Aijaz Khan, keeping in view their services for the downtrodden and for the uplift of Rawalpindi city.
