ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday praised the security efforts by the police and Rangers during the ninth and tenth day of Muhrram, as well as during the visit of the Chinese premier.

Malik announced an additional salary of one month to the officials for their success at maintaining law and order.

Speaking to the media after meeting with the Rangers, Islamabad police, intelligence officials and FC personnel, Malik said that admirable security conditions had prevailed during the ninth and tenth of Muharram. He said that he has decided to make the current security model a part of the SOP (standard operating procedures).

The minister also thanked the leaders and ulema from various sects and organisations for helping maintain security.
