HYDERABAD, Sept 27: The Bishop of Hyderabad Rev S K Das, in a statement issued on Friday, urged the Christian community to call off their protests. The statement expressed grief and sorrow over the recent killings of the seven Christians workers of an NGO in Karachi.

Terming the targeting of Christians a tragedy, the Bishop said that despite their patriotism and peaceful nature they and their places of worship had been targeted seven times during the past year.

The Bishop urged the authorities to apprehend the terrorists within the shortest possible time. He urged President Musharraf to deal with the terrorists with an iron fist.

Rev S K Das also stressed on the Christians for calling off their protests and attend churches and ask for God’s help and forgiveness.

Meanwhile, the Vicar of St Thomas Church, Rev Danial Fayaz, stressed on the need for an effective policy to eliminate terrorism from the country.

He said this while delivering a sermon at special prayers in the Church.

Meanwhile, the workers of the National Commission for Peace and Justice and representatives of various political parties and NGOs staged a demonstration outside the local press club to protest against the murderers of Christians in Karachi.
