LAHORE, Dec 14: Four-year-old chestnut colt Mera Baba looks set to win the feature event during the Lahore Gymkhana midweek races at the Racecourse here on Wednesday.

Participating in the sixth and the last race in a field of seven runners, Mera Baba, a colt from unknown pedigree with the form in which he is at present will be going all out to make it two wins in-a-row and register his seventh success of the season for trainer Rashid Latif. The last race he won was in November.

Mera Baba will have to face strong challenge from the gelding Jal Thal and the colt Wahab Prince in the same order.

Three-year-old chestnut filly Golden Sparrow, beaten on her last outing on Nov 24, should make amends in the fifth and supporting event. Golden Jubilee and Amazing Boy should fight for places.

White Money, a four-year-old blue-roan colt, is on song for his third straight victory in the fourth race although speedy Salman’s Gold and Jungle Da Badshah are also contesting in this race with another speedy customer in Brave Boy. It should be a closely contested event.

Three-year-old bay colt Omkara after a fluent victory had to face defeat last Wednesday should make amends this time in the third race. Chestnut mare Miano and colt Bhola Badshah should be fighting for places in this race to be contested by 15 runners.

The second race has ten runners consisting of mostly horses having no outstanding achievement or form. Zunair Prince, Sahib Gee and Puma Dynasty look good to make it a well-contested event. Zunair Prince though placed at top of the handicap figures can prevail over his nine opponents with a good lad up in the saddle.The first race, having a field of probable nine runners, looks an open affair.

In all, 55 runners are competing in the six races drawn for the mid-week racing. All events are to be contacted over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres. The first race is scheduled to start at 1.00pm. Following is the field and our selections:
