ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Open tennis championship will begin at the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Complex from December 25.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, PTF's newly-elected president Kaleem Imam said the championship would be played in five different categories.

He added that a multinational company would sponsor the event and the federation was thankful to them.

The championship would not only help the federation discover new talent but promotes the sport at the grass-roots level, he said.

Kaleem further said, “We will hold events at schools and colleges all over the country and try to get sponsorship for it,” he said.

“We will also hire the services of qualified coaches to ensure professional trainings for emerging players,” he said.

Meanwhile, four Pakistan players, including a girl, will feature in U-14 tennis championship to be played in Myanmar from January 23.

Players:

Mohammad Mudassar, Zaid Mujahid, Husnain Manzoor, Iman Qureshi.
