LAHORE: Subhan Ahmed has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) while ex-COO Wasim Bari has been given a new assignment, that of Director Ani-Corruption Unit Domestic.

For Subhan, who has been working as acting COO in place of Bari for a few months now, it is a giant leap since he has risen from the post of Senior General Manager to become the COO. However, it is a sort of demotion for Bari who is now being reduced to the post of a director.

Bari, along with other 22 regular employees, was retired from his post following a Governing Board decision last month.

The Governing Board had decided to do away with all such employees who were enjoying regular status despite having reached the age of retirement.

Besides Bari, Umpires manager Khizar Hayat and general manager domestic Shafiq Ahmad were prominent among those who came under fire in the new policy. Shafiq, however, has now been re-appointed as Manager Umpires and Referees.

Meanwhile, PCB chairman Ijaz Butt had sought the consent of the Governing Board members on telephone to appoint Subhan as the new COO.
