LAHORE, Sept 25: The Punjab education department has directed all the district coordination officers to complete the recruitment of teachers by the end of this month.

The department has also warned to withdraw the posts which will remain vacant on Oct 1.

It was learnt on Wednesday that many districts have not yet called the applicants for interview, while in some districts the candidates for the posts of teachers in primary, elementary, middle and high schools were being shortlisted.

The recruitment process in Lahore district has been completed and 777 candidates have been given appointment letters.

It was learnt that the directive was issued following displeasure conveyed by the Punjab governor for undue delay in appointment of teachers.

The education department has also asked the district Nazimeen, executive district officers (education) and district education officers all over the province to ensure appointment of teachers within the stipulated time.
