LAKKI MARWAT, Dec 7: Police on Tuesday evening recovered two bullet-riddled bodies near Dabak Mandrakhel in the jurisdiction of Lakki Marwat police station and shifted them to city hospital.

“A patrolling party of Lakki Marwat police station, after getting information, reached the place near Dabak Mandrakhel village and found the bodies lying there,” said a police official. He said that the deceased were identified as Yaqoob Khan, 52, and Nawab Shah, 40, from the national identity cards they had in their pockets.

He said that the deceased belonged to South Waziristan Agency. “The bodies were taken to city hospital for autopsy and medico legal formalities,” he maintained, saying that police had registered a case and started investigation.

SHOT DEAD: A man was killed over a petty dispute in Kherukhel Pakka village, said police on Tuesday. Police said Mohammad Hussain and Jillani shot dead Wakil Khan and escaped.

The deceased's son Suleman lodged an FIR with police stating the accused killed his father to avenge a minor quarrel.

Meanwhile, police foiled a narcotics' smuggling bid and arrested a drug trafficker with contraband near Manjiwala chowk on Tuesday.

A police party headed by SHO Asad Ali Shah stopped the man for search and recovered two kg hashish from him. The drug trafficker was identified as Gul Rahim.

COMPENSATION: Journalists of Lakki Marwat and Naurang have demanded of the federal and provincial governments and national and international organisations to compensate the bereaved families of journalists who died in twin suicide blasts at the office of political administration in Mohmand Agency.

The demand was made in a meeting jointly presided over by senior journalists Hafiz Minhajuddin and Nadim Khattak on Tuesday.

The participants expressed grief over the killing of their colleagues and offered Fateha for the departed souls. They said that the deceased journalists remained attached with the profession for over a decade and had left behind widows and little children.

They supported the three-day mourning announced by the Tribal Union of Journalists and asked the government to take measures for the safety of media persons.

They also demanded of the government and media organisations to award 'Shuhada package' to the families of journalists who died in line of duty.
