KARACHI, Dec 5: An activist of a nationalist party was killed and two others were wounded over a dispute about the payment of a food bill with the owner of a restaurant early on Sunday near the Safoora roundabout.

“It was actually a dispute over the payment of a bill, between the customers and the hotel owner rather than a dispute between two groups,” SSP Naeem Shaikh said.

The participants of a rally mainly comprising Jeay Sindh activists arrived at the hotel early on Sunday from the city downtown areas after participating in the Sindh Cultural Day activities there.

“They sat at an eatery, Khyber Hotel, for dinner near the Safoora roundabout and after having a dinner; either they didn't want to pay the bill or there was a dispute over the amount of the bill which led to an altercation between the customers and the hotel management.”

The police said that the altercation led to the hotel owners to open fire at the customers resulting in the death of one customer, Rashid and two others were got wounded.

Following the incident, the hotel owners managed to flee winding up their business.

The deceased and the injured were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The police said that following the incident, unidentified people set fire to the furniture lying outside the hotel and pushcarts and ransacked the fixtures of the hotel.

The police have registered an FIR pertaining to the incident. Man killed

A man was killed and his political activist brother was wounded when unidentified people opened fire at them on Abul Hasan Isphani Road on Sunday, police said.

They said that provincial council member of the Awami National Party (ANP) Dawood Khan Wazir and his younger brother Irfan Khan Wazir were going in their car bearing registration number (ASF-629).

As they slowed down at a traffic signal near Paradise Bakery, two suspects riding on a motorcycle opened fire at them and fled.

The police said that both the men got wounded and were rushed to the Aga Khan Hospital where Irfan succumbed to his wounds during treatment.

The victim's elder brother Dawood was operated upon and said to be out of danger.

“A total of seven shots were fire at the crime scene. Three bullets hit Irfan in the

head, the chest and the neck, and three also hit Dawood,” Gulshan SSP Naeem Shaikh said.

The police said that both the brothers were returning to their home in Quaid-i-Azam Colony when the incident occurred.

Dawood Khan Wazir ran a shop of spare parts in Shorab Goth.An FIR in connection to the incident is yet to the registered by the police as the family will lodge the case after the funeral, a duty officer of the Mubina Town police station said.

The ANP Sindh President, Shahi Syed, condemned the incident in strongest terms and called the government to carry out a fair investigation.
