LAHORE, Nov 11: Local leaders of the Pak-Afghan Defence Council’s component parties clarified on Sunday that there would be no strike on Nov 16. It will only be a protest day.

“The main rally will be held in Lahore the venue of which will be announced afterwards,” JI’s Lahore amir Mian Maqsood Ahmad said after a meeting of the parties here.

He said small processions to be taken out from all mosques after Juma prayers would join the main rally.

The JI leader demanded the release of all workers and leaders arrested during the Nov 9 wheeljam strike and withdrawal of cases registered against them.

Azhar: PML-QA president Mian Azhar has advised the government to take decisions on all important issues after taking political and religious parties into confidence.

In a press statement here on Sunday, he said his party’s central working committee was meeting on Nov 16 to discuss the impact of the Afghanistan situation on Pakistan and to decide the party’s future line of action.

Mian Azhar said he would soon be meeting with leaders of other parties to hammer out a strategy to ward off all dangers to the country.

The PML-QA women’s wing has demanded an immediate end to the attacks on Afghanistan, without waiting for the advent of Ramazan.

Begum Mehnaz Rafi, who presided over the meeting, said the United Nations and the OIC should settle the Afghan crisis through Loya Jirga. She said the UN resolution had allowed eradication of terrorism and not massacre of innocent people.

Some other speakers said killing the women and children was unbecoming of a country calling itself a super power.
