HYDERABAD, Sept 24: The vice chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has said that the university was making efforts to serve the community by providing health care facilities not only to the teachers, students, and managerial staff at the campus but also to the people of surrounding areas.

He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Sindh University Diagnostic Centre, which has been established by the Institute of Biochemistry in collaboration with the Sindh University Dispensary, on Tuesday.

The vice chancellor said that the diagnostic centre would provide quality health care, and added that gradually this diagnostic centre would be upgraded and efforts would be made to establish a medical complex at the Sindh University campus.

He said that providing diagnostic facilities on an emergency basis to the faculty, students, and residents of the colony was the need of the hour at the campus.

He said that the basic idea of starting the diagnostic centre was to provide immediate services to the university faculty, staff, and students without any delay and also to serve the poor people living in its surroundings on nominal charges.

He promised that more facilities would be provided and the required support would be obtained from the Sindh government.

He urged the doctors of the diagnostic centre to pay full attention towards the patients and provide them the best treatment.

Dr Mohammad Saleh Memon, director, Institute of Biochemistry, said that it has provided services for diagnosing diseases through its laboratory.
