In 1997 an important event took place in Indian student politics. An energetic and vocal JNU student union president Chandrashekhar Prasad was assassinated in Siwan in Bihar. Though the CBI has come up with its report on the murder, those who were the student leader’s comrades believe that justice hasn’t been done.

Renowned film-maker Mahesh Bhatt is now making a film on the life of the slain student. It’s titled Chandu. Bhatt is of the opinion that Chandrashekher Prasad was ‘one of the first youth icons of India who believed in parliamentary democracy’. The film will be directed by Ajay Kanchan and a newcomer from Delhi Imran Zahid will play the lead character.
