Chattha Vs Asma in Wazirabad

Published September 23, 2002

GUJRANWALA, Sept 22: A close fight is expected between Jat Cheema and Chattha biradaris for NA-101, Wazirabad, where PML-C chief Hamid Nasir Chattha is a strong aspirant.

The PPP has fielded Asma Shah Nawaz Cheema, the daughter of former minister Shah Nawaz Cheema, who is out of race due to the graduation condition. The PML-QA has not fielded any candidate instead it has decided to support Mr Chattha.

Hamid Nasir Chattha has been elected MNA thrice from this constituency. The Pakistan Awami Tehrik has alloted party ticket to Advocate Muhammad Saleem Aujalvi while ex-MPA Shaukat Hayat Chattha and Adnan Sarwer Cheema, the son of former defence minister Ghulam Sarwer Cheema, are contesting as independent candidates.

But a close contest is expected between the PML-C and the PPP and the biradarism will play a decisive role.
