KARACHI, Nov 22: A young woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband inside their Nazimabad residence on Monday, police said.

They said that 35-year-old Sonia had a dispute with her husband, Naseer Chaudhry, in their rented house in Nazimabad No 3.

Quoting the statements of some neighbours, Nazimabad SHO Sub-Inspector Sohail Sulehri said that on Monday afternoon they saw her leaving the house and suddenly a single bullet, allegedly fired by the husband, hit her in the back.

She was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she died. The husband managed to escape with the murder weapon, he added.

He said the couple had two children and had been living in the area for the past more then five years. The suspect was working with a private company as a salesman, he added.

The area SHO said that the couple's relationship became strained a few months ago and the victim woman had filed an application seeking divorce from her husband in court.

He said that some neighbours told the police that the couple in fact kept arguing over some personal issues and they had intervened on one or two occasions to resolve the matter for the time being.

Bullet-riddled body found The bullet-riddled body of a young man was found at a desolate place near the Malir River on Monday, police said.

They said that the victim was identified as Nadim Dawoon Marri, who was a resident of Shah Faisal Colony.

“The victim left his home on Sunday night for his maternal uncle's home in Memon Goth,” said Sub-Inspector Naseeruddin, the SHO of the Memon Goth police station. “In the morning, some passers-by informed the police about a body near the Malir River, which was later identified as that of Nadim.”

He said that so far the motive and the culprits behind the murder were not known, but initial interaction with the victim's family suggested that the killing was motivated by some personal dispute. Man found shot dead Another young man was found shot dead near the Malir River within the remit of the Shah Latif police station on Monday, police said.

They said that 28-year-old Zahid Baloch was shot dead while he was coming from Aasu Goth.

“There are contradictory accounts of witnesses, as some said they saw a couple of motorcyclists firing and killing the victim while a few others claimed that some people had thrown the body in the river before leaving the place,” said an official at the Shah Latif police station. “We are trying to determine the exact situation. Currently the killing appears to be a result of some personal enmity, as the victim simply worked at an auto garage with his elder brother and lived in Marvi Goth.”

He said the body was later shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination after which a case would be registered.
