The judge of Anti-Terrorism Court No 2, Safdar Hussain Malik, awarded one-year rigorous imprisonment to a person who had resorted to aerial firing when a police party tried to arrest him for possessing unlicensed weapon.

He was also fined Rs5,000. In case the convict, Azhar Iqbal, fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo another three months of jail-term.

In another case, Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Abdul Qayyum sent a person, accused of fraud, on judicial remand.

According to the police, Mohammad Raza had taken Rs750,000 from Shahid Khan promising him a share in his business.

The accused had been booked by a court bailiff as he was not appearing before the court despite receiving summons.
