ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: Twenty-three brigadiers are set to be promoted as major-general, informed sources say. The names of the officers have been approved at a meeting of the Promotion Board held at the GHQ and the formal announcement of the promotion by the prime minister is expected soon, the sources told Dawn on Monday.

Those being promoted are: Brigadiers Iftikhar Wyne, Naveed Mukhtar, Sadiq Ali, Ijaz Shahid, Maqsood Abbasi, Farhan Ahmed, Javed Bokhari, Amir Azim Bajwa, M. Iqbal Aasi, Tariq Ghafoor, Abid Nazir, Hidayatur Rehman, Aarif Warriach, Zafar Iqbal, Anwar Ali Haider, Sajjad Rasool, Shahid Baig Mirza, Asim Bajwa, M. Tauqir Ahmed, Waqar Ahmed, Akhtar Waheed, Salman Ali and Muhammad Ahmed.—Staff Reporter
