MANSEHRA, Nov 12: China would reconstruct the 2005 earthquake destroyed government higher secondary school and civil hospital in Baffa with an estimated cost of Rs7 billion.

“The paperwork is being finalised after which work on the school and hospital would be started,” Sterodo, an official of the Chinese embassy in Pakistan, said while speaking at a public gathering in Baffa on Friday. A team of the Chinese engineers and MPA Mufti Kafaitullah visited the sites of the projects.

Mr Sterodo said people and government of the China were with their brothers in Pakistan, adding, “We are always with people of Pakistan as our friendship is everlasting.”

Speaking on the occasion director of the Provincial Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority Dr Fazalur Rehman Khan said both the projects would be completed with an estimated cost of Rs7 billion.

He said that Chinese engineers would monitor the work on both earthquake resistant buildings. He said that school building, which was a masterpiece of the olden architect, would present its old look with modern additions after its completion.

MPA Mufti Kafaitullah said owing to destruction of the schools and hospitals people of the area were deprived of health and educational facilities.
