NAWABSHAH, Nov 2: Three more cases of dengue fever have been detected here during the last 24 hours ending on Tuesday evening.

The patients, admitted in medical units of Peoples Medical College Hospital, were identified as Ali Akbar Rind, a policeman and resident of Chanesar-II; Shabrati, resident of Essarpura Nawabshah, and Mohammed Azam, 15, resident of Sakrand.

Associate Professor of medical unit-I Dr Mohammed Saleem Faiz said that condition of the patients was stable.

With the three new cases, total number of dengue fever cases reported in Nawabshah has reached nine.

However, no effective measures were being taken by the health department regarding the awareness and fumigation spray in the city.

PMC Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Agha Iftikhar said that the kits were made available and they were carrying out free-of-cost tests for the suspicious cases of dengue fever.

When contacted, Executive District Officer of Health Shaheed Benazirabad Dr Bahadur Khero said that the department was equipped with two large and 10 small fumigation machines, which were enough for the district.

However, only one large machine was being utilised for the spray in Nawabshah city.

If the TMA Nawabshah ensured the supply of fuel, he would arrange more machines for a proper union-council-wise spray in the city to avoid spread of dengue fever.

Administrator of Shaheed Benazirabad Jamal Mustafa Syed said that he had contacted all the taluka municipal administrations through administrators and an effective fumigation spray campaign would be launched throughout the district from Wednesday.
