LAHORE, Sept 17: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) informed an accountability court on Tuesday that former director-general of the Peshawar Cantonment Board had made a successful plea bargain in a corruption reference pending against him.

The court was informed by the prosecution that the accused had agreed to pay Rs10.248 million to the NAB in three months.

Accused Naeem Khan argued that he had struck a deal in another corruption reference pending against him before a Rawalpindi accountability court. He pleaded that by virtue of that deal, he should be set free.

The NAB counsel however said he was not aware of any such deal. On the court’s instructions, the prosecution said it would update the court regarding accused’s claim on the next date of hearing.

Naeem Khan has been accused of acquiring assets worth million of rupees disproportionate to his known sources of income by abusing his official position.
