‘Impostors’ handed over to Taliban

BUNER, Nov 10: Two Afghan impersonators caught collecting donations for Jihad in Afghanistan were handed over to the Afghan embassy in Islamabad on Saturday.

Haqeequllah and Ishaqullah, sons of Fazlur Rehman of Parwan province of Afghanistan, who declared themselves as special envoys of Taliban supreme leader Mullah Omar, were collecting donations from the locals “for Jihad against America” when they were asked by the administrator of a local religious school, Syed Afsar Shah, to prove their identity.

When the two brothers failed to come up with a satisfactory response to the question, Afsar Shah contacted Taliban ambassador in Islamabad Mullah Zaeef and JUI (S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq in Akora Khattak on telephone, but both of them denied presence of any Taliban envoys in Buner to collect funds.

Mullah Zaeef and Samiul Haq asked for the two to be rushed to Islamabad for further interrogation, Afsar Shah said.

As the two brothers were produced before the local newsmen at Daggar, they stuck to their earlier statement, but could not produce any proof to establish their identity.

Later, they were taken to Islamabad for being handed over to the Taliban embassy for questioning.
