Position-holders awarded

MURREE, Oct 18: A total of 55 girl students holding distinction in examination of various educational boards of Punjab arrived on a four-day visit to the Hill Station as “state guests” on Monday.

They were presented “Guard of Honor” to acknowledge their meritorious achievements in the HSSC and SSC examinations of Behawalpur, DG Khan, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Rawalpindsi boards.

On the occasion DCO Rawalpindi Mr. Imdaad Bosaal appreciated the students’ achievement.—Correspondent

Man kidnapped for ransom

TAXILA, Oct 18: A young man was kidnapped for ransom while a house was looted on gun point on Sunday.

Tanveer Ahmed, a dairy farm owner was picked up by four persons riding in a white car. Later the abductors through a telephone call to his family demanded a sum of Rs5 million for his release.

Munawar Khan reported to police during his absence five armed persons entered his house and made his family members hostage on gun point and looted gold ornaments, cash, electronic goods and other valuables worth Rs500,000 and fled away.—Correspondent

Two killed in road accident

TALAGANG, Oct 18: Two people were killed and five others injured in a road accident here on Monday.

A passenger bus was on its way to Dera Ismail Khan from Rawalpindi when it overturned on Talagang-Mianwali Road at Wanhar village due to speeding.

As a result two persons, conductor Jafar Hussain and Deen Arsala, died on the spot. Five injured persons were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Talagang.—A Correspondent

QAU management school

ISLAMABAD, Oct 18: The vice chancellor of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) on Monday inaugurated the Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) programme, offering courses in marketing, finance and human resource management.

Prof Masoom Yasinzai inaugurated the building of Quaid-i-Azam School of Management Sciences (QASMS) and formally welcomed the newly enrolled students of BBA. The university’s Department of Administrative Sciences has been recently transformed into QASMS.

“QAU has recently introduced three new schools under the umbrella of the faculty of social sciences…School of Economics, School of Management Sciences and School of International Relations and Political Sciences,” Prof Masoom told the students and faculty members at the launching of the degree programme.

QASMS Chairman Prof G. S. Niazi expressed commitment to promoting research in management sciences. “With its well-designed programmes, outstanding faculty and state-of-the-art facilities, the school can be ranked among one of the best institutes of management sciences,” he said.—Staff Reporter
