PESHAWAR, Sept 14: A dissident PPP candidate for PF-4, Peshawar, announced his withdrawal from the run in favour of the party’s nominee.

Misbahuddin told newsmen that he would now campaign for the party-backed Khizer Hayat.

Mr Misbah said that at the time of awarding party tickets he was busy in a court in connection with some case and did not have the time to appear in the interviews held for the purpose.

Later, he applied for the party ticket and started campaign. Meanwhile, he said, the PPP awarded ticket to Mr Hayat. In protest, Mr Misbah said, he filed his papers as an independent candidate. He said he was in touch with party chairperson Benazir Bhutto via email, who advised him to withdraw in favour of Mr Hayat.
