HYDERABAD, Sept 10: As many as 256 development schemes, worth Rs687.927 million, were being implemented to provide basic amenities as well as jobs to the people of rural areas, the district coordination officer (DCO), Hyderabad, Mir Hussain Ali, said on Tuesday.

He was speaking while presiding over a meeting, which reviewed the pace of development work in the district, at the Shahbaz Hall.

The DCO said that Rs432 million have been earmarked for completion of 66 development schemes, including nine schemes of roads, 29 schemes of education, 11 of water supply, eight of health, four of physical housing and planning, four of culture and tourism and one scheme of social welfare under the ADP 2002- 2003.

Of the 189 development schemes, being executed at a cost of Rs255.927 million under the KPP, 89 schemes of roads and three schemes of play grounds have been completed.
