ISLAMABAD, Sept 9: The Acting President, Justice Sheikh Riaz Ahmed, said on Monday the government had prepared a comprehensive package of judicial reforms to provide speedy justice to the people.

He was talking to Punjab Law Minister, Rana Ijaz Ahmed Khan, who called on him here at the Aiwan-i-Sadr on Monday.

He said the package had been prepared with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank, which had provided a loan of $350 million for the purpose.

Justice Riaz said with the construction of new court buildings, the package would also help people in getting easy access to the justice.

Provincial law minister briefed the acting president about the measures taken in Punjab to ensure respect of human rights and people’s welfare.

He said a Punjab Human Rights Commission has been set up in the province.—APP
