LANDI KOTAL, Sept 4: The nomination papers of 10 candidates were rejected by returning officers for National Assembly constituencies of NA-45 and NA-46 from Khyber Agency after completion of scrutiny of some 49 aspiring candidates.

All the 10 candidates were found Wapda defaulters and thus their papers were rejected. Those whose papers were rejected from NA- 45 include Akhtar Murad of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Sudher Ahmad of Jamaat-i-Islami, Hayat Wazir, Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, Qari Abdul Azeem, Abdul Qayyum, Sawab Sher Kukikhel and Shakirullah Kukikhel.

Off the eight rejected candidates from NA-45, Sudher Ahmad of JI also could not produce valid educational qualification documents. From NA-46, two candidates Mohammad Daud and Maulana Mohammad Shafiq were declared Wapda defaulters and thus their papers were rejected. All the aspiring candidates from the above mentioned two constituencies were directed to produce a no-objection certificate from water and power development authority.

Wapda asked all the candidates to deposit Rs30,000 as electricity bill and then they would be issued an NOC.

Wapda is currently at loggerheads with tribesmen for their refusal to install electricity meters at their homes.
