ISLAMABAD, Oct 8: Steps will be taken to provide world level services to the people and to facilitate the postal employees as per rules and regulations.

This was stated by the federal minister for communications and railways, Lt-Gen (Rtd) Javed Ashraf Qazi, while presiding over a meeting of the Pakistan Post held at Ministry of Communications on Monday.

The minister said the government desired to provide world class postal facilities to the people and the postal system would be established on modern lines.

He said steps would be taken for further improvement of the postal system in the country. The postal officials should solve the difficulties being faced in the sphere of postal service within the available resources on priority basis, he added.

He urged the employees to work with dedication for the development of the postal sector. The dispatch and delivery system should be improved, he added.

He said participation of the private sector in modernization of the postal system would be encouraged.

The communication secretary, Iftikhar Rashid, said the postal department was introducing reforms in postal sector which would bring positive and encouraging changes in the postal services.

He said, “our endeavour is to provide latest facilities to the people.” New dimensions had been added to the traditional system to meet the current demands of the public, he added.

The Pakistan Post director-general, Maj-Gen (Rtd) Agha Massod Hassan, said, besides introducing new services to accelerate delivery of the post, modern techniques including automation and computerization was being introduced. The people should avail better postal facilities throughout the country, he said.
