SHEIKHUPURA, Sept 2: A landlord was shot dead and his friend injured allegedly by 10 gunmen over a land dispute in Jhabran Mandi, some 25 kilometres from here, on Monday.

Ismail had obtained a decree against Hakim Amanat, Baher, and others, from a civil court a few days ago. The accused got angry after the court’s judgment. They attacked Ismail killing him instantly and injuring his friend Ramzan critically.

GOVT CHIDED: The rejection of nomination papers of Benazir Bhutto was condemned by PPP activists here on Monday.

District general secretary Zahid Chaudhry termed the step undemocratic and unconstitutional in a hurriedly called meeting.

He said no solid proof of corruption against Ms Bhutto was found. Therefore, it was unjust to oust her from election.

PPP workers also chanted slogans against the government.
