PPP stages rallies in Sindh

LARKANA, Sept 1: The activists of the People’s Party Parliamentarians continued their protest in different parts of Sindh for the second consecutive day on Sunday against the rejection of nomination papers of party chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

A partial strike was observed in Larkana and main business centres remained closed.

The protestors also burnt tyres at different chowks.

Around 15 activists of the Asif Zardari Rehai Committee observed a hunger strike in Naudero, the hometown of Ms Bhutto.

Sindh PPP president Nisar Khuhro and Haji Munwar Ali Abbasi led a procession and also staged a sit-in at the VIP Road for half an hour.

Our Dadu Correspondent adds: A large number of activists of the PPP, SPSF, Youth Wing and the People’s Hari Committee, Dadu district, took out a protest rally against the rejection of nomination papers of Benazir Bhutto, Sindh PPP president Nisar Ahmad Khuhro and other PPP leaders.

The protesters, carrying banners and placards, marched on main roads and raised slogans against the government. They also staged a demonstration outside press club for two hours and blocked the Kutchehry Road.

Later, they observed a token hunger strike in front of the Dadu Press Club.

Our Naushahro Feroze Correspondent adds: Several PPP activists took out a rally from Bandhi Road to the Moro Press Club.

Talking to the protesters, the PPP leaders termed the rejection of Ms Bhutto’s nomination papers a conspiracy to keep her away from the election.

Our Badin Correspondent adds: Hundreds of the PPP activists took out a protest rally here against the rejection of nomination papers of Ms Bhutto.

The activists from all over the district started assembling at the party’s district office in the morning to stage a protest.

Our Mirpurkhas Correspondent adds: The activists of the PPP and the SPSF took out a protest rally from the SPSF office here on Sunday against the rejection of nomination papers of Ms Bhutto and other party leaders.

Our Shikarpur Correspondent adds: Senior PPP leader Sardar Wahid Bux Khan Bhayo and party district leader Junaid Ahmad Soomro have termed the decision of the returning officer to reject the nomination form of Benazir Bhutto an act of depriving Ms Bhutto of her democratic and constitutional rights.

They appreciated the decision of Mohammad Nawaz Sharif to withdrawal from his nomination, terming it a step towards the real democratic process.
