HYDERABAD, Sept 1: A group of activists of the Islami Jamiat-i-Tulba (IJT), Liaquat Medical University chapter, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday against the recommendations of the special task force for education.

Speaking at the rally, the IJT leaders, Saad Hassan, Mohammad Ali Kumbhar, Shamshad Ahmad Shar and others, lashed out at the task force and said its recommendations would close the doors of higher education for the poor.

They said universities were being converted into money making factories and added by abolishing the syndicate and senate, the autonomy of universities was being jeopardized.

They demanded of the federal government to reject what they called anti-education and anti-students recommendations of the task force.

ISRA ADMISSION: The Isra University has extended the date for submission of application forms up to Sept 7.

The admission test will be taken on Sept 8 at the university campus, Hala Road, here at 10am.

The university authorities have, however, announced the last date to submit application forms by postal delivery is Sept 4.

CONVOCATION: The registrar, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, Prof Abdul Latif Soomro, on Thursday announced the eleventh convocation of the university would be held on Sept 9.
